Have you ever felt uneasy moving into a new home? Does there seem to be an air of lingering negative feelings or an unclean atmosphere in some area of your abode? Historically, my people used herbs to cleanse themselves and their living spaces and possessions spiritually. With the proper respect and a sincere attitude, you too can enjoy the benefits and general self-improvement associated with a smudging ceremony.
My people consider sage, cedar, sweetgrass and tobacco as the Four Sacred Herbs. Sage is found across North America, with white sage being the most potent and gray sage. Cedar and sweetgrass also are indigenous to this continent. Tobacco can be found in many forms however I do not offer to sell tobacco at this point in time.
If you are unsure how to smudge I will send directions with your purchase however I do not post this knowledge for anyone to read as it is considered a humble but sacred ceremony.
Types of herbs I have they are displayed on a black bear hide these are very LARGE bundles and braids!
Sweetgrass braids (top): $12.50 a braid
32-34" long, nice thick braids, ~3/4-1" wide We burn sweetgrass to help encourage peaceful dreams and to welcome good energy into our surroundings. Sweetgrass is rare today, its territory severely cut by development, cattle-grazing, and wheat fields - and tradition Indians in the northern Plains are trying to protect the last remaining fields. The best way for most people to get sweetgrass is to buy it at Native American retail outlets. This gives support to Indians who can help the fields from being depleted :)
Grandfather (white) sage: $12.50 a bundle
(shown as half bundle half crushed ready for smudge that's a LOT of white sage in one bundle!) 7-9" long, 1.5-1.75" diameter. Used to cleanse negative energy very thick heavy smudge.
Grey Sage: $8
7-9" long, ~1.5 " diameter. Burns much lighter than the white sage but is used to cleanse negative energy.
Cedar bundles: $87-9" long, ~1.5 " diameter. Cedar is burned while praying either aloud or silently. The prayers rise on the cedar smoke and are carried to the Creator.
